StraightLine factory, Ireland - On-site energy generation due to cloud based monitoring
Power Utilities
StraightLine Energy Solutions Ltd
Kilarney County Kerry. Ireland
Straightline manufactures "EscoPod" - on-site hot water and electricity generation units for industrial customers.
The requirement was to supply a cloud based monitoring system, which allows StraightLine to verify the savings provided by their plant as part of a performance contract. The monitoring system compares the cost performance of the new generation plant with the calculated cost of the original hot water and electricity supplied ones.
Web accessed graphical interfaces were developed by Siemens and Straightline in a series of workshops. In parallel the connection to the Escopod unit was implemented allowing actual data to be streamed from the generation plant. This was enhancing the development of the graphics.
The monitoring system provides Straightline with remote visability of the performance of the generation plant. This enables verification of the savings in comparison with the calculated costs of the original utility supplies. The monitoring system forms an essential part of the performance contract savings verification methodology. It allows Straightlline to share the savings information with their customer enabling payment as part of the contract.
Straightline Energy Solutions, which is the original developer of the EscoPod, was founded in 2013. It is based in Killarney and is led by John O'Leary.
