Labor shortages, seasonality of work, high prices of input materials and recently also energy prices - these problems plague fruit and vegetable growers all over the world. Similar to industry, the most promising solution here is digitization and intensive automation.
The Optisolutions company established cooperation with the Ráječek family farm and developed a unique robot that monitors the health of tomatoes and, thanks to artificial intelligence elements, can determine by itself what is missing and how to improve their condition. In addition to monitoring the health of the plants, the device can also pinch the leaves so that the fruits have enough space and resources to grow.
We checked the technologies we needed, we went through a lot of dead ends, but the most important thing is that we already knew what we wanted. At this stage we also understood that we needed expert knowledge, i. e. to know what we are looking at with a robot and what we are actually seeing. Without it, we wouldn't be able to program anything at all. We needed to find a partner with whom we could move the project forward together.
