The Siemens ecosystem, based on the Siemens Xcelerator, offers us as a medium-sized machine builder the opportunity to transition from reactive to proactive service. This shift can significantly enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall customer satisfaction.
Dr. Andreas Grotz, Head of Digitalisierung and Business Development, MAG IAS GmbH
Customers often have little or no experience with remote diagnostics and condition monitoring. Two factors play a role in this. Firstly, digital topics are difficult to illustrate to customers due to their complexity. Secondly, there are underlying reservations about machine networking. Siemens and machine manufacturers need to continue addressing these issues now and in the future. Mechanical engineering, manufacturing, OEM business, and production technology operate based on references. Therefore, MAG has an Insights Hub Test Tenant where we can show customers the advantages of the tools live. Remote diagnostics and machine remote monitoring offer unprecedented opportunities to identify and directly resolve problems remotely. This prevents machine downtimes or reduces them due to diagnostic capabilities.
Siemens significantly simplifies machine diagnostics with MMM and MMM/R:
- No additional hardware or sensors are needed due to integration into the machine control system.
- The system can be easily used for new machines or as a retrofit solution.
- No additional hardware is needed for adjustments in the PLC program, so it can be done on any machine equipped with MMM/R.
The ecosystem concept is also interesting:
- Since many machines are equipped with Sinumerik controls, end customers always have the same look and feel for the remote and condition monitoring interface.
- Moreover, all machines of a customer, regardless of the machine manufacturer, can be displayed together in their Insights Hub interface if they have a Siemens control system.
