At first we did have to draft new programming standards, but after a short startup phase the enhanced engineering efficiency when working on the TIA Portal was confirmed.

Continental AG is an international technology company. The group's Automotive division operates from some 200 locations worldwide. For the manufacture of engine, transmission, vehicle electrical system and airbag control units, camera-based assistance systems, sensors and actuators, Continental Regensburg will in future be running production lines comprising standard cells making electronic components. Continental Regensburg is using the TIA Portal for programming and configuration of the automation systems. The standard cells are controlled by Simatic S7-1500s.

In the TIA Portal, Continental Regensburg made the choice for a leading-edge engineering technology. The choice of Simatic S7-1500 controllers and HMI panels from the TIA portfolio, and of the Engineering Framework, was based primarily on the savings they could deliver in terms of engineering time and cost, as well as their high levels of flexibility for customizing solutions.
