Vibration monitoring of a coffee production line

Siemens Xcelerator
Mechanical drift commonly occurs in the bearings of both hot and cold air fans, resulting in unexpected halts. In response to this issue, the customer - a coffee producer company - expressed their requirement to equip these devices with instrumentation for obtaining accurate on-site measurements. To ensure prompt action, operators needed to be notified of any mechanical drifts through a three-color light column, allowing proactive intervention.
Siemens together with its partner DV Group provided a solution based on Condition Monitoring System SIPLUS CMS1200 used for:
  • 4 fans
  • 45kW motors (x2)
  • 260kW motors (x2)
  • 8 bearings
  • Control of equipment wear levels
  • Access to real-time measurements
  • Correlation of vibration levels and equipment rotation speeds : detailed analysis
  • Operator station alerted by light column in case of drift
  • Alert and alarm thresholds set by experts
  • 2 mechanical drifts detected during the year
  • Periodic reporting : notification of drift on bearings
  • No unwanted process interruption
  • 36h downtime avoided
  • 216K € production loss avoided
