Knauf Integral KG
Knauf Integral KG has been eager to optimize and raise energy-efficiency potentials in its 12-level gypsum dryer. They primarily used DOL motors running 24/7 at full and partial load.
Knauf Integral KG is an independent company within
the Knauf Group. At headquarters in Satteldorf they use a unique production
method to manufacture the high density gypsum fibre drywalling material GIFAtec.
The level of energy efficiencyin its 12-level gypsum dryer has been increased
by the use of a synchronous reluctance drive system from Siemens.
Highly efficient variable-speed operation with SIMOTICS synchronous reluctance motor and SINAMICS G120 converter
The Siemens solution was the more efficient drive system compared to another system tested.
In addition, the new engine was compatible with the previously used engines, which meant that no investment in a replacement kit was required.
Excellent energy efficiency (IE4) by 2%, especially with partial load
Perfectly coordinated drive system of the motor and converter, so that the entire drive system can be reduced by more than one power stage and simplified commissioning was possible due to the motor code.
The plant in Satteldorf was defined as a pilot project to test the first highly efficient 25 synchronous reluctance drives in combination with the converter SINAMICS G120 and then equip other Knauf plants with the Siemens
