The main objective was to
eliminate manual masking with a high throughput standalone station. They also
needed high precision cleaning and high speed to keep up with their cycle time. The challenges were to meet cycle time and stability of vision validation. Our solution eliminated their need for consumables and eliminate human errors.
Construction of a
standalone Rotary Station with a 200-watt fiber laser for cleaning e-coating
off of automotive parts. The main features included a Siemens PLC, an air-knife
to keep the lens clean, and a Cognex camera for validation. Laser cleaning can be
performed automatically with minimal human intervention, is consistent and very
precise vs manual masking, it does not affect surface vs mechanical cleaning.
The parts are cleaned rapidly to meet cycle time and are then validated using a
vision camera.
The challenges were to meet cycle time and stability of vision validation. Our solution eliminated their need for consumables and eliminate human errors.
