The assembly line was 24 meters long and consisted of ten freely placeable modules connected by a bus. At each module, there was a person who screwed or pressed the parts, or simply threw them into the right place.
The Rodotec AG company develops assembly systems for
industry – starting with the easy transfer system, through semi-automatic
workstations, all the way to fully automated production plants The project was
an assembly line for automotive suppliers with hydraulic modules.
Rodotec relied on a total of 56 ET 200AL distributed I/O modules with IP 65/67 degree of protection to automate the modules. Only the controller of the complete assembly line, a Simatic S7 IM151-8 CPU, was housed in a control cabinet
