The company supplies complete systems, from the removal of empty cans or jars to their sterilization and filling through to the palletizing of cartons with the finished products. It specializes in food products that are subject to special hygiene requirements during production and packaging. The largest customer group is the baby food industry with milk powder for infants, including those with allergies or lactose intolerance. The systems are developed and produced in Switzerland.

In combination with the 3D CAD system NX™ and Teamcenter, Swiss Can AG has an efficient development system. The TIA Portal with Multi User Engineering and Teamcenter Gateway are used to configure and parameterize the systems. In addition, a digital twin is created using NX Mechatronics Concept Designer and used for virtual commissioning. The systems are operated via WinCC Unified and the control system (Simatic S7-1500), drives (Sinamics), switching technology (Sirius) and power supply (Sitop) also come from Siemens.

The requirements of the systems are high, as the end products are filled in a cleanroom atmosphere. The residual oxygen that may be contained in the filled cans is particularly critical. Swiss Can AG is at the top of the market in this area with a residual oxygen value of 0.5%.
