The Unit of Environmental
Engineering at University of Innsbruck conducts lab-scale experiments on the
anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic wastes. Continuous AD experiments in
lab-scale are an adequate option to simulate full-scale AD processes. Six fully
equipped lab-scale biogas reactors (working volume 6 liter each) were built to
enable nearly fully automated AD experiments. Siemens supplied the entire
automation system for the biogas reactors.
Siemens
supplied the automation system for the six lab-scale biogas reactors (based on
CPU Siemens ET 200SP). The control units’ tasks are:
Substrate
feeding
Digestate
discharge
Process
data acquisition
(pressure, temperature, gas
quantities)
Reactor
heating control
- Reactor
mixing control
By experiements in lab-scale full-scale anaerobic digestion processes can now be simulated completely
Minimal
effort for conducting continuous lab-scale experiments
Transparent visualization
and secure control of the process data
