Starwood operates many motors in its plants. The eight existing motors, which were used in the particleboard production line, were old and consuming more energy, and operating inefficiently. As a result of a detailed energy audit, Siemens service experts offered a retrofit solution for these old motors.
Siemens service experts suggested replacing the inefficient motors with new, state-of-the-art, high-performance, low-voltage motors:
8 x SIMOTICS SD series 250kW IE4 motors
A detailed energy audit in accordance with ISO 50002 was carried out by Siemens service experts for the feasibility report. Reporting of the savings indicated in the feasibility report was done with post-implementation measurements. Measurement and verification were also established for the energy performance contract.
As a result of the feasibility report, an energy savings potential of 2.3 % with a payback period of 4.1 years was identified.
Further benefits:
Long-term availability of spare parts
Increased plant availability, productivity and relability
155.8 tons less CO2 emissions per year and 468 trees saved, thus reducing environmental impact
Electricity consumption reduced from 1565.5 kW to 1529.9 kW
Energy efficiency guaranteed by Siemens
