The customer was looking for a reliable partner to make the plants' energy consumption transparent and reduce energy costs.
In this project, Siemens service
experts demonstrated their comprehensive capabilities by delivering an
end-to-end solution that began with an energy audit. After thorough assessment,
they identified several potential energy-saving opportunities and developed a
detailed proposal for implementation. The focal point of the project was a
large-scale optimization initiative at the plant's main pump station, which
housed approximately 80 pumps ranging from 30 to 132 kW in capacity. One of the
key improvements involved enhancing the cooling towers' efficiency by
implementing an innovative control system that regulated water flow based on
approach temperature measurements.
To modernize the entire operation,
Siemens service experts installed a state-of-the-art automation and monitoring
system throughout the pump station. The technical solution incorporated
cutting-edge Siemens hardware, including a SIMATIC S7-1500 controller with 10
remote I/O ET200SP units, four Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and a WinCC
Professional system for comprehensive visualization and control. The
installation also featured 15 SINAMICS G120 drives and 60 Simocode units with
Safety Integrity Level 1 (SIL1).
The entire system was programmed
and configured using TIA Portal, which seamlessly integrated both Step7 and
WinCC Professional software platforms. This project provides a complete
solution, from the initial energy audit through to final implementation, demonstrating
their expertise in both consulting and technical execution.
The comprehensive approach achieved
that the customer received a fully integrated, efficient, and modern solution
that generated significant energy savings while improving operational control
and monitoring capabilities.
