For the repowering of the Coppanz wind farm, the existing NXPLUS C medium-voltage switchgear at the substation, dating back to 2002, also had to be adapted. The challenge of this project was to keep the substation's downtime as short as possible to avoid significant revenue losses for the wind farm.
Delivery, installation, sensor wiring, and commissioning of two IoT-enabled NXPLUS C panels
Retrofit of the existing three NXPLUS C panels with IoT sensors and replacement of old protection devices
Temperature monitoring via PT1000 sensor and PD measurements using a Rogowski coil and HFCT sensor
Managed service contract including on-call availability and remote consulting
Access to Electrification X – Asset Management
Windfarm Weimar GmbH & Co. KG relies on state-of-the-art IoT-enabled medium-voltage technology and now has continuous visibility into the health status of its medium-voltage switchgear. Notably, the existing switchgear was also equipped with sensors, allowing the existing panels to be included in the health analysis. The package is rounded off with a managed service contract – ensuring that the system is continuously monitored by Siemens service technicians, enabling immediate action in the event of anomalies. With this cutting-edge technology combined with Electrification X – Asset Management, the highest availability of the medium-voltage switchgear is ensured and revenue losses due to substation downtime are minimized.
