Trotec Laser, well-known for its high-precision laser machines, faced a specific customer requirement for an object fire suppression system. The heat generated by laser technology, especially when working with organic (flammable) materials, combined with potential operating errors, carries a risk of machine fires. This repeatedly leads to costly production downtimes and reputational damage for their customers. In the case described, the end customer insisted on strict adherence to international safety standards (EN ISO 13849-1, ISO 19353:2019) to guarantee the highest level of safety. 

Siemens was chosen as a strategic partner to implement a comprehensive and customized object fire suppression system for the Speedy 400 laser system. Although Sinorix Object Fire Protection systems are typically used in machine tools, the proven technology was precisely adapted to the dynamic conditions of the Speedy 400 through a joint, in-depth analysis and intensive testing with Trotec Laser. This demonstrates Siemens' flexibility and engineering expertise in rethinking established solutions and tailoring them to customer requirements.

With Sinorix Advanced Object Fire Protection, the Trotec Speedy 400 receives a custom-tailored, highly responsive object fire suppression system. The core of this system is the patented linear fire sensor Lifdes (TM), made from a high molecular weight polymer. This sensor is kept under a constant pressure of 15 bar and is connected via a valve to a CO2 extinguishing agent container. At critical temperatures, the fire sensor bursts, causing a pressure drop that opens the valve. The CO2 then flows residue-free into the protected area, extinguishing the fire within seconds before it can spread, all without damaging sensitive optics and electronics. An automatic emergency stop and shutdown of the extraction system immediately eliminate the ignition source. 

The first systems are already successfully in use, demonstrating the effectiveness of this partnership.
