The client has a "Hot Stretch Line" with 1 SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES rectifier and 9 SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES drives. Because the series is obsolete in 2020, the client wishes to retrofit these drives to SINAMICS S120.
The client has a shutdown of 2 weeks in the summer, so the migration needs to be done in this time frame.
To make the client's mind better, we did the retrofit of 1 inverter during a normal weekend shutdown. With this way the client got confidence in the whole migration.
Siemens service experts delivered, installed and commissioned the new SINAMICS S120 drives (1 BLM; 9 SMM) .
Challenges:
Delivery time of the necessary materials
Executing the installation and the commissioning during the shutdown of 2 weeks
The line regulation is controlled in the S7 PLC above the drives. Some fine tuning of the drive regulations was still needed.
Delivered and executed within a restricted time frame. There were no delays for the restart of the plant because of this project.
Spare part availability.
Free addition of an intervention contract for drives degree A for 1 year.
