Machine Building
STILMAS SPA
Settala (MI) Italy
Through a modular approach of solutions and systems, Stilmas is able to purify the feedwater in different stages and modes. Likewise, depending on the final application, the company generates the suitable level for the water to be used. Moreover, nowadays, the company has adopted innovative technologies thanks to which it is possible to manage the machines more carefully. In fact, executive operation in a predictive manner (via pop up or email to the customer) can be easily performed.
Stilmas’ purpose is hence to create digital transformation even in the pharma industry, ensuring data security and process control.
Sala Acque Smart (Smart Water Room), in particular, represents an integrated and modular (but also flexible and configurable according to needs) solution for pharmaceutical companies. For the project itself, it was important not only to guarantee the quality of the product,
but also the intellectual property: the main international pharmaceutical
companies are extremely demanding customers that make significant investments in
R&D. They not only need to protect their know-how, but also need to protect
their data and pay great attention to Cyber Security.
Accordingly, a
modular approach to data management has been used in order to:
transfer data to a
public cloud infrastructure in a secure manner,
keep data locally for
answering the questions of the customers.
Hence
the use of Siemens' Industrial Edge solution (which can be connected to the
cloud and provide a full-stack IoT service).
Stilmas,
a member of the MindSphere World Italia association, also uses Siemens'
industrial IoT solution MindSphere.
Through the use of Edge,
one of our targets is to develop specific analysis of our fluid production
process that are difficult to find on the market.
Paolo Leani, Technical Director, Stilmas
Industrial Edge technology allows to work close to the so-called shop-floor
without Internet connection in order to carry
out analysis locally, near the machine. Having these apps
accelerated the processes. The advantage is related to the simple use of these
applications which run on a PC and allow data analysis and collection from
the machines.
Industrial Edge is hence an
open technology based on an open standard such as Docker, and for this reason,
it allows IT software integration within the platform. This means that
Stilmas can easily integrate additional software developed by the company in
the future.
The company focuses on sales, engineering and construction of facilities for water treatment and production of purified water, injectable water and pure steam.
