Through the automation, the dairy hopes to increase productivity in the cheese production. At the same time, energy costs should be kept as low as possible and a sustainable concept should be developed. Another premise was that every employee could keep an eye on the entire production process at any time.

The implemented overall solution comprises SIMATIC Basic and Comfort Panels, an ET 200SP, and a SINAMICS G120C. All of these components can be configured and linked to one another in the comprehensive system, the TIA Portal. One system for the integration of control, drive, and HMI.

With the completion of his new building, Erich Keller, owner of the Käserei Altendorf, has laid a cornerstone for automation in cheese production. The entire production process is to be automated – from the delivery, to mixing and pressing, all the way to maturation. For this project, Siemens was able to offer the best overall solution and was able to support Erich Keller in his new construction.
