New space allocation plan implementing the desk sharing concept and fostering mobile work
The headquarters building on the site of our client in Munich serves as the main office building for the group holding and has developed over time into a workspace with an ever growing occupation rate whose areas required optimization. The demand for new workspaces coincided with a desire to rethink the design of the existing working environments with an eye to the future.
According to the client objectives, the roll-out of the project was done in 4 stages.
An initial analysis of the floor plan performance was followed by a feasibility study with the aim of maximising the headcount numbers by keeping the sharing rate of 1:1,6 as concluded in the user workshops.
The subsequent iterative process of adapting the concept for space utilization to the clients needs and evaluation of the result by the client was accompanied by a phase of communicating the change strategy to the employees and the top management.
The result of this process was a tender for the actual reorganization and revitalisation of the work enviroment, complemented with the introduction of various microzones for communication, collaboration, concentration and retreat.
The fourth step means to realize the whole planning with the help of a relocation planning. To intelligently equip the floors with existing furniture and to move them one after the other according to user requirements and to equip them in the target design.
The main goal of the client to make optimal use of its premises was met beyond success. Besides the increase in the efficiency of the workspace occupation, various departments of the company were brought together, fostering the creation of new synergies among them. Taking the experiences from Siemens' own workplace concept into consideration, the client also decided on profound modernization of its office equipment towards ergonomic designs, while remaining true to sustainability and upcycling future-proof furniture.
