The Tirol Kliniken faced the challenge of standardizing and modernizing the integrated management system of their four state hospitals. The goal was to present various technical systems, such as fire alarm technology and access control, on a single, vendor-agnostic platform. Crucial was the ability to grant individualized access rights to enhance security and efficiency, and to prevent operating errors. Further requirements included a future-proof solution with reliable service, as well as a comprehensive video surveillance system for property protection and patient safety.

Siemens was able to address the challenges faced by Tirol Kliniken with a comprehensive solution. Various technical systems and facilities, such as fire alarm technology, video surveillance, elevator emergency calls, access control, etc., were presented on a unified interface using the installed integrated control system.The Siemens security management system SiControl, specifically designed for critical infrastructure, enabled personalized features. It was designed to assign individual permissions to all employees, ensuring access only to relevant areas. This system optimizes overview, enhances security, and prevents operating errors. The large number of interfaces – over 400 in total – makes SiControl ideally suited for projects like this. Furthermore, 24/7 support is available for any issues, and ongoing updates support the expanded system. In addition to the new integrated control system, Siemens implemented two new video surveillance systems in the hospitals. One serves for property protection and the other for patient safety; accordingly, the systems are handled separately. Videos recorded for property protection are stored for a defined period, whereas for patient safety, only live images are displayed, for instance, to visualize the occupancy of a waiting area. In total, Siemens placed over 800 cameras in the four hospitals and integrated previously installed devices into the Qognify VMS video surveillance solution.

They comprise four state hospitals in Innsbruck, Hall, Hochzirl, and Natters, with a total capacity of more than 2,400 beds.
