Burgenländische Krankenanstalten- Gesellschaft m.b.H. Klinik Oberwart
Oberwart Austria
As a newly established medical care center in Burgenland, the Klinik Oberwart aimed to create a future-oriented and secure facility. A primary objective was full compliance with the NIS Directive, which mandates high cyber resilience and protection against cyberattacks for critical infrastructures such as hospitals. This necessitated an extremely secure hospital IT infrastructure. Furthermore, within the MSR (Measuring, Steering, Regulating) domain, the clinic required a robust and secure hazard management system that integrates all relevant alarms and accounts for the specific demands of hospital operations. This particularly included the precise control and monitoring of sterile areas like operating rooms (e.g., through positive pressure maintenance and access control). The clinic also emphasized the smooth functioning of all building technology and consistently high air quality throughout the building to ensure maximum patient comfort and optimal operating conditions.
NIS-compliant cybersecurity: Siemens implemented the secure BACnet/SC standard for encrypted communication in building networks, ensuring NIS compliance and robust cybersecurity for the hospital IT.
Centralized hazard management (MSR): Established a central hazard management system that collects all hospital alarms and addresses specific requirements, such as controlling sterile operating areas.
Advanced building management system: Utilized Desigo CC for comprehensive building management, supported by precise Sitrans meters and intelligent room control for optimal air quality.
Impressive project scale: The project involved 80 linear meters of control cabinets, 41 new-generation controllers, 360 individual room controllers, and controls for 1,400 fire damper actuators.
Comprehensive capability: Demonstrated Siemens' ability to meet the highest demands for reliability, availability, and NIS compliance in a hospital environment with its broad portfolio.
Highest cybersecurity & NIS compliance: Optimal protection against cyberattacks, maximum data security, and operational continuity through BACnet/SC, making the clinic a cybersecurity showcase project.
Enhanced safety & efficiency: Central hazard management system in the MSR domain enables rapid response to alarms, increases safety for patients and staff, and optimizes clinic operations.
Optimal indoor climate & air quality: Intelligent individual room control and precise monitoring (Sitrans meters) ensure consistently high air quality and a comfortable indoor climate.
Transparent & efficient building control: Building management via Desigo CC offers a user-friendly interface for maximum transparency and efficient administration of all building parameters.
Long-term reliability & future-proofing: The comprehensive Siemens installation and expertise guarantee a highly reliable, expandable infrastructure that meets the high demands of a modern hospital.
