Kimtas

Kimtas operates a lime plant in their Torbalı (İzmir) plant. The motors of the plant ran for decades under harsh conditions, which lead to a high energy consumption and unplanned downtimes.
That's why the customer wanted Siemens to replace their 59 existing, inefficient motors with Siemens IE4 motors. Additionally, the customer wanted Siemens to supply this replacement with an Energy Performance Contracting (EnPC), which allows the customer to refinance their investments.
Siemens provided a retrofit solution by replacing the 59 inefficient motors with Siemens IE4 motors.
Additionally, Siemens included Energy Performance Contracting (EnPC) for drive applications, which is an approach that funds an retrofit project from its energy savings. The projects are delivered by a four step process designed to de-risk the project development, while also providing a strong savings certainty.
The energy efficiency project will be financed by energy savings and will also help the customer to achieve further direct savings
No required investments (CAPEX) for the project implementation
Little business risk for the customer
Pay-back time under three years with approximately savings of 40,000 € per year
Reduced planned and unplanned downtimes and higher production quantities
Thanks to the Carmeuse Group, which is a world leader in lime production, Kimtas has reinforced its leadership in the lime sector in Turkey.
