Shi-Guang Heating Ltd. wanted Siemens to install a Flowmeater to measure the water consumption from the thermal power plant to the heating company. One measurement device is placed on the feed pipe and the other one is on the return pipe.
Since the feed pipe is above ground 6-meter high and already full of water, a normal installation is not possible (hot-tap installation required).

For the flowmeter intallation the Sitrans Fus Sonokit was used. It offers a simple, accurate alternative to traditional flowmeters as it can be retrofitted onto existing pipelines. Being a transit time based ultrasonic flowmeter, Sitrans Fus Sonokit has in-line transducers which assure superior accuracy and performance. It is made for installation on empty pipes or pipes under pressure without process shut-down (hot-tap). 

After calculating, drawing and marking the Siemens service experts installed the flowmeter on the two pipes including the following steps: 

• Drill the holes in the pipe
• Mount the transducers under pressure
• Determine sensor data
• Connect the cables between sensors and transmitter
• Power and configur the transmitter
• Finish the installation with testing

Middle size "City Heating" provider in the city of Shi-Jia-Zhuang which is close to Beijing, established in the year of 2000. Customer purchases 2-path SONOKIT. However they have no capability to install the device under pressure (hot-tap installation), they decided to purchase Siemens service to help them finish this hot-tap installation.
