Starwood Orman was looking for a suitable service partner, who was able to minimize planned and unplanned downtimes, in order to increase the availability of their plants. Furthermore, they were looking for a solution to be more flexible in the production and warehousing process. To accomplish these goals, Starwood wanted a qualified service solution to ensure their planning security and calculable service costs.

Siemens was able to offer a suitable Service and Maintenance Agreement for their SINAMICS-PLC, which includes predictive and preventive maintenance activities for the customers hardware and software on-site. In a first step the Siemens experts got an overview of the existing plant structure incl. all running assets and system software. The second step was to collect and archive all the system software backups, to ensure nothing will be lost after the updates. In a last step the Siemens experts summarized all recommended service activities (e.g. updates/upgrades, out of date products) and discussed it with the customers technical personnel.

The Service and Maintenance Agreement is based on an annual renewable contract with the following reaction times and specifications: 

• Reaction times: 8 hours 
• Included services: SIMAIN cleaning, on-site training 

Additionally, the service solution includes individual on-site trainings for the customers personnel and suitable spare parts.

Starwood, engaged in the forest products industry, is one of the biggest industrial companies in Turkey with its growing production capacity and new investments every year. The company has the highest production volume capacity in Turkey. It produces 2,000 m³ MDF per day on 2 lines and 3,000 m³ chipboard 3 lines, which is especially specialized in the production of thin MDF from 1.5 mm to 8 mm. Starwood has a total production capacity of 220,000 m² in 180,000 m² closed area in İnegöl plant and has a production capacity of 30,000 sheets / day with 8 short cycle pressed lines ( dims 1.83 mm and 2.10 mm) together with the Georgian plant.
